This off-grid commercial kitchen was designed for Nyenga Eco Resort to support sustainable and traditional Ugandan cooking. Powered by solar energy and firewood, it blends functionality with cultural authenticity. Locally sourced materials—timber, stone, and clay bricks with a cement render—anchor the structure within its natural setting. The open-air layout enhances natural ventilation and connection to the landscape, while promoting communal activity. Designed for efficiency and minimal environmental impact, the kitchen reflects a balance between innovation and tradition, offering a resilient model for eco-conscious hospitality rooted in local craftsmanship and sustainable design principles.
